A Direct Debit authorises a third-party (usually a merchant) to collect payments from your account when they are due. You give this authorisation to the merchant directly, by providing them with your account number and sort code.
If you’re asked to provide the address of your banking provider, you can find it in your Tide app by tapping Pay > Manage > Direct Debits. Once requested, Direct Debits can take up to 5 days to become active.
Once active, the payment collection process starts from midnight, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. Make sure you have sufficient funds available in your account the day before the Direct Debit should be collected.
