Yes, some payments don’t count towards your cashback, including:

• • Subscriptions
  • Tide fees (and other bank fees)
  • Money transfers, deposits and balance transfers
  • ATM withdrawals
  • Tax payments
  • Account top-ups, including to prepaid, debit or credit cards
  • Payments for government services, such as vehicle registration, licence and parking fees

We use Merchant Category Codes (MCCs) to determine whether or not you can earn cashback on a transaction. MCCs are assigned to merchants or businesses based on the goods or services they sell. This is done by the bank that processes their payments, and can’t be changed by Tide. To learn more about what’s excluded, take a look at the paid plan T&Cs.
